Because of the desperate economic conditions on the West Bank and in Gaza it is essential that we recruit as much support for the Medical Schools from outside the Occupied Territories as is possible.

Welcome

November 2011 Fundraising Dinner

The occasion of the 2011 FQMS annual dinner, held at the Millennium Hotel in Mayfair on November the 4th, was very special indeed. Those present were enchanted by the exceptionally beautiful voice and delivery of Ms Zeina Barhoum, soprano, who was accompanied by two highly talented musicians: Mr Ehsan Emam (Oud) and Ms Patricia Williams (piano).

Supporters of FQMS were inspired by the words of our distinguished guest speaker, Sir Terence English, who gave a first hand account of his experiences when delivering courses in Primary Trauma Care in Palestine, the devastation he saw in Gaza, the dire situation on the ground and his firm belief in the importance of medical education, which FQMS supports.

His excellency, Mr Hassasian's presence and words of encouragement were all the more poignant given the recent loss of his wife, Samira. Funding was pledged for a number of projects, including a new training programme, in her memory, to improve acute pain management.

FQMS officers and trustees would like to extend very sincere and special thanks to all who contributed their time so generously in organising the dinner and to all who who gave their support in attending and sustaining our work.
