Distance Learning Network During 2006, FQMS spent $220,000 on setting up a distance
learning network at Al-Quds. The network comprised: -
Video-conferencing studios and seminar rooms in: An Najaah University
Nablus; Al Azhar University, Gaza City; the European Hospital, Khan Younis; the
General Hospital, Ramallah; Al Aliya Hospital, Hebron; and the Al -Quds Faculty
of Medicine, Abu Dies. - A centre
with offices and a seminar room in Abu Dies to control the in network. The costs included: - Total refurbishment and furnishing of space to
accommodate the equipment and students in Ramallah, Abu Dies, Hebron and the
two sites in Gaza but not Nablus. - All
video-conferencing equipment and sound systems for each of the sites. This was provided at heavily discounted
prices by Sony Ltd. - The first year costs of transmission (IP and ISDN
lines). - Security
boxes and lockable safes for all equipment. Computer Equipment and Accessories FQMS has allocated $55,000 towards the purchase of
computer equipment as follows: - 28 Personal computers - 4 Laptops - 4 LCD Projectors - Server, software and accessories - Furniture for the computer lab The delivery of these items is expected to take place
during the second quarter of 2007. During the period Autumn 2007 to Spring 2008 FQMS has
supported the purchase of projection equipment for teaching Pathology, a
further 34 computers and printers for use both in teaching and examining and in
the students' library at Abu Dies.
