A total of 11 students from the Islamic University of Gaza benefited from the FQMS bursary programme in 2023. Each praised the programme for its financial assistance and opportunity to pursue their dreams. They have all expressed gratitude for the support they received. 1. “I am a student studying at the Islamic University Faculty of Medicine in the Gaza Strip. I have been awarded a bursary by the Al-Quds Foundation for Medical Schools in Palestine. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to them for their generous support and assistance to us, students. Such opportunities are invaluable, and it is the least I can do to thank them wholeheartedly. I pray that Allah rewards them with the best and grants us all success in our endeavour. Your generous support and assistance to hundreds of students in Palestine is highly appreciated. Your educational grants have been a source of great relief for many students, including myself, who cannot afford fees. The tuition fees owed by me are onerous and have become a disturbing nightmare that haunts me all the time. I stand unable to pay the accumulated instalments. 3. “I am in the second year of the Medical Faculty at the Islamic University of Gaza. Firstly, I want to thank FQMS for supporting medical students in the Gaza Strip. This is especially in the current difficult economic situation which we have suffered from. And I want to thank this scholarship for the hope it gave me after paying tuition fees. This helped me register for this semester and submit the final exams after I lost hope of offering them. How great was my joy when I knew that I could register for this semester and I would not have to postpone it, and by receiving this scholarship, I no longer have to fear that I will be deprived of exams, as happened to me in the previous semesters, and I will start focusing on my studies and the future that will be bright with the presence of a scholarship that offers hope like FQMS. I will make my all effort to fulfil my dream, I have faced a lot of obstacles in my way that I could overcome, but the financial situation still poses a major obstacle but your scholarship gave me great hope and determination. Without this bursary, I would have faced difficulties paying for my tuition fees and may not have been able to continue my studies. 5. “Dear FQMS, first. I would like to thank you for your generous support to complete my studies at the Islamic University in the Gaza Strip. I can never thank you enough for your wonderful gift. You can never imagine how happy I was when I heard this news. I am in real need of your support as the medical school fees are very expensive. My family cannot offer me this big amount of money. As you know I am at the end of the fifth year of my studies. The study of medicine is extremely hard. It requires a lot of effort and concentration. That’s why your kind support is very important to me. It makes me focus mainly on my study and not to worry about the financial case and the fees. This has helped me a lot in paying for the tuition fees for this semester of my medical degree in the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza. Because of you, I feel much closer to fulfilling my dream now of becoming a doctor. I will continue to work hard this year, too, and make you proud of me. 10. “Hello, I am a 4th year student at the medical school of IUG. Firstly, I really thank you for this bursary, and I appreciate the chance you gave me. My father doesn’t work now, he lost his job, which made my family go through tough situations, I have a trouble paying the medical school fees, and having this bursary relieved my financial burden, and helped me after I was really concerned that I might not be able to continue my studying. We’re 7 members who live together in the family house, and my sister is studying on another college too. I always wanted to study medicine, but my financial problems made a barrier between this, and now after relieving my financial burden I will be able to continue studying and concentrate on, and continue my academic life and graduate to complete my dream and become a doctor, and help patients and relieve their pains. As a fifth-year medical student in the Gaza Strip, financial obstacles threatened to hinder my academic aspirations.
